Engineered for high-speed solvent evaporation and recovery in small- to medium-sized laboratories, the EcoChyll® X3 is a robust cooling system for chemical, botanical, and other extractions. Using the pioneering EcoChyll® direct cooling technology, the X3 bridges the gap between small-footprint, benchtop rotary evaporators and our larger, higher-capacity EcoChyll evaporators. With a true 12 L capacity and compact form factor, it holds more solvent than a “20 L” rotary evaporator while having a faster evaporation rate and much shorter total run time.

The 20L EcoChyll X3 will make 20 liter rotary evaporators obsolete. If you have used a 20L rotovap, you are almost certainly familiar with a few common problems:
- They take forever to start up. The bath takes a long time to get hot, and the chiller takes even longer to get cold.
- They don’t perform as advertised! You can’t put 20 liters into a “20 liter” rotary evaporator.
- Getting your product out is tedious.

The keys to our improved performance and efficiency are:
- Direct cooling of a metal condenser coil with refrigerant from the compressor. This leads to pull-down times of just minutes while using far less electricity than a recirculating chiller.
- Replacing a rotating flask with an upright, stationary flask which is stirred with an overhead stirrer and heated on a heating mantle. The direct heating of the flask is more energy efficient, the upright flask allows you to use the full 50 L volume, and the stirring is more energy efficient than rotating a large flask. This also allows us to put a drain on the evaporating flask for convenient collection of residual product – something which traditional rotary evaporators cannot do!
